The ability to have an effect on a person’s behavior, thinking or feelings – preferably a positive effect. To influence is to bring about a change in someone by persuasion, example, or action.
Are you aware of the influence you have on others? Do you wish to have a more positive impact? As always, it begins with you. People are following your example. Do you model the type of behavior and attitude you desire in others? Begin by developing your relationship with those with whom you wish to influence. From a relationship grounded by trust and fostered by congruency (that is, doing what you say – like, integrity – ooh, another “I” word), you will begin to see the fruits of your influence.
